Dedicated to the memory of Frances Miller

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Frances Miller of Livonia MI, formerly of Dearborn Heights and Detroit, who died peacefully on May 11, 2017, at her home in Livonia.  Born November 13, 1923 in Yugoslavia, she is predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Ramminger and Johan Biking and her sisters Kati and Anni of Germany.

Frances was a homemaker and her passion in life was raising her two devoted son's Jeffrey and Steve.  As a single Mom with limited resources it was a huge challenge but somehow she made it look easy and fun.  That's reflective of her endless love, care and support for her children.  In her spare time she even managed to build a life size playhouse from scrap materials complete with a functioning door and windows.

Frances was a master cook and baker in the kitchen.  She went to great lengths to ensure her cooking was not only very tasty but healthy as well.  And her coffee walnut tortes and authentic German strudel were to die for.

Christmas was her favorite time of year;  she went all out festively decorating the tree and house, preparing a delicious duck or goose dinner and baking those scrumptious Christmas cookies using her old world recipes.

She loved gardeningriding her bicycle and dancing with her son Jeffrey at the German festivals (the Liechtensteiner Polka was one of her favorites) until a few years before her passing.

Survivors include her two loving sonsJeffrey of Livonia, and Steve (Maria) of Brighton MI and sister Maria of ChicagoILBrother Johann and Sister Elizabeth both of Germany as well as her adorable pet: Suzy (Parrot).

She's truly the heart and soul of our family and her passing is a great loss.

At her request, no service will be held.

P.S. Mom you will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Thoughts

Dear Mom, On Easter Sunday, Suzy and I send our deepest love and gratitude to you, our sweet and loving Mom, now watching over us from heaven. With the recent passing of Onkel Hans on March 20, we feel the weight of the end of an extraordinary generation for our family and the world. Your role in raising him created a bond that transcended time and circumstance, a testament to the depth of your love and care. From firsthand experience, I can attest to having had the privilege of the best Mom in the whole world, and I know that Onkel Hans felt equally blessed to have such a devoted and caring big sister by his side. With hearts overflowing with love on this Easter Sunday and always, Jeffrey & Suzy XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

In Loving Memory of My Dearest Mom, On the 7th Christmas since your passing, I thought it would be appropriate to revisit a Christmas card from the past: “To my special Mom, Our home is the happiest place at Christmas time because you make it such a special place. Everything from your beautiful decorations to those awesome homemade cookies and delicious homecooked dinner (and not to mention all the other loving and caring things that you do). My heart is filled with so many happy memories of Christmas and that’s all because of you. And there could never be any Mom more wonderful than the one you are! With all my love, Jeffrey” These sentiments capture just a fraction of the countless memories I will treasure forever. With all our Love, Jeffrey & Suzy XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
